Profile
Jan joined rospatt directly after completing his studies in 2022. Since then, he has been working on a wide variety of different cases for national and international companies, especially in the fields of patent, trademark, design and competition law.
His patent litigation cases have involved inventions relating to electrical engineering, telecommunications and chemistry, among others. One focus of his practice lies on FRAND negotiations and court proceedings regarding standard-essential patents in the telecommunications sector. Another legal field he has gained experience in is unfair competition law, in particular supplementary protection law, where Jan advices inventors and creators who cannot rely on patent or copyright protection against counterfeits or product piracy, and enforces their rights before the civil courts.
His interest for science has led Jan to study natural sciences at the Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree while working part-time for rospatt since the end of 2022. The degree course aims to provide solid foundational knowledge in the areas of physics, chemistry, math, biology and computer science at the outset. In the later stages of the course, the focus shifts to one of these disciplines as a major for which he chose physics.
Jan was called to the bar as lawyer in 2022.
